Garret wants it all. Fame, fortune, and love. But being such a public figure keeps him from outwardly having all three. The fame and fortune are easy as his well-known last name is synonymous with one of the world’s great oil fortunes. It’s his secret love with Claudia that no one can know about. She is the beautiful and glamorous hostess at the city’s exclusive Russian Tea House. But that’s not all Claudia is. She is an international spy. She employs a bevy of high-caliber beauties masquerading as elite escorts. But really, these ladies are expertly trained to collect powerful secrets from the city’s top business executives to which Claudia transmits back to her homeland. Garret, being a regular customer at the Tea House, has fallen deeply in love with her. And breaking Rule #1 with her employer, Claudia has returned his affections. Behavior that results in fatal consequences if learned. Could she ever truly and fully commit to Garret? It would mean breaking every rule she’d every known. Could they escape or would they be running for their life forever? Does love really conquer all?

We women are multitaskers. Multitaskers with a purpose. we have our way of doing things and the countless things expected of us. So how do we bring back or even find time for the wonder, the creativity, the power and magic of women creating together? Simple. Play games. Any game will do just fine, but one in particular (that yours truly created) had 15 grown women acting like silly school girls last weekend. The game, StoryClub, required them to write a story with partners. And the story started like this: Justine knew it was going to be an unusual day when she woke up and Philip was gone. Left on her pillow was a note that made her gasp. Added to that starter was the knowledge that darling Philip, a bank president, was known around town for his extra-curricular activities. And on top of this knowledge, a friend’s wedding and Gucci loafers needed to make an appearance in the stories they were creating. Hmmmm. In between girlish giggles and wondering thoughts I heard a lot of ‘what if he did this’ and ‘omg, can we say that’? The room was filled with women connecting and creating. I saw in each, the innate power of women doing what we were all born to do — create. An afternoon of tired and overworked women were lighting up the girls in themselves. Funny what playing games can do. And, of the stories that were written? Well, this gaggle of gals claim, what’s written at StoryClub stays at StoryClub. ROFL!
Robert was madly in love with her. He had planned an elaborate proposal to take place that very evening. Lillian was so beautiful he could hardly believe his good fortune to be with her. He’d purchased a flawless emerald from Cartier that nearly matched her dazzling eyes. They’d just finished a bottle of ’02 Cristal that was gloriously smooth, crisp and bubbly. Both of them were little light-headed with romance. And as Robert gazed dreamily into her eyes he said, “Lillian my love, there is something I want to ask you.” Her eyes closed as her smile inhaled slowly and deeply as if the moment she had long-awaited was finally here. Yet following a passionate kiss, she tilted her head and whispered into his ear, “Oh Julian…I have always loved you…….”
People only knew of Delilah. She and her current husband, Deangelo, had quietly moved into the penthouse in The Plaza Hotel a few years back. Word about town was that she’d been widowed twice and was possibly one of the wealthiest women in America. Some say he could be traced back to one of the most influential Sicilian mafia bosses in history as it was rumored that his mother’s maiden name was Vizzini. The couple lived a reclusive life. And while he was a mystery, stories and photos of her circulated all over the internet. Delilah was an old world glamorous beauty. Every portrait of her revealed her love for multi-strand opera length pearls. Of her previous husbands, the first was a sheikh who met his unfortunate end in an airplane crash for which the cause was still unsolved after 20+ years. Her second husband was a wealthy Italian businessman who, in the midst of a monumental business deal, died of a sudden heart attach. Each leaving Delilah with billions. The hotel daytime concierge, Jason, had not had a request from their suite all week long. This was highly unusual as he normally attended to their needs multiple times each week. Worried, he conferred with Amir, the hotel manager. “Perhaps they’re out of town,” Jason said. Yet, both of them knew something was amiss as it was common knowledge that the couple had not shown their faces in public since the day they moved in. Amir called the police who had already received a puzzling email about the couple. Yet, as they entered the suite, they found no sign of the couple. What they did find on the bureau were Delilah’s pearls perfectly draped over a Smith & Wesson, and a partially eaten cannoli…
After a whirlwind four weeks, Todd was planning to pop the big question to Aubrey while slow-dancing at Mike’s wedding reception. But, after receiving that anonymous letter only the day before, his feelings turned to doubt and panic. Had Aubrey really changed her face? I mean, would somebody really go to that extreme? After all, she was so beautiful! “No,” he thought, “the letter simply had to be a prank.” So while dancing to I love you just the way you are, Todd decided it just didn’t matter as he was head over heels in love. “Aubrey,” he whispered into her ear, “there’s something I’d like to ask you.” But as he looked deep into her eyes his mind went blank and the proposal he’d rehearsed at least a hundred times had disappeared and all he could think of was the letter. Could it be true? No…it had to be a mistake. Yet as much as he wanted to believe that, he had the sinking feeling that there was truth to the letter and the possibility that perhaps Aubrey might already be related to him….
In the south, we tend to drag our words oh just a wee bit. Increases the drama of everything… So it didn’t surprise me when last night’s Girls’ Night StoryClub hosted by the lovely lawerly gals of Nexsen Pruet (Charleston, SC) had a story filled with southern inferences like: Haley sauntered up to the strikingly handsome Edward with a sultry introduction of Heeeyyyy, I’m Haley, to a character named Scarlett, as in O’Hara. What a fun night complete with a gaggle of great gals, tons of laughs, nibbles that were delish including fried green tomato stacks slathered w/pimento cheese, and ‘summertime margaritas’ concocted with a mixture of beer, vodka & limeade. Seriously mouth watering and thirst quenching! A fun time had by all. Hmmm, I wonder what’s to become of the Haley & Julio hookup?
